Santa Clara Grand Prix

So the RallySport Aquatics kids are out at the Santa Clara Grand Prix meet. We have been lucky to watch some of the best in the world over the last couple of days. Y wanted to share a story regarding the greatest swimmer of all time...Michael Phelps.

Obviously Phelps is an amazing swimmer. However, this is not a pure talent guy. Just like Jordan and Woods, this guy meticulously plans and works in orde to get to where he is. Forget the marijuana thing, its irrelevent. He was out of competition and yes it was dumb. This guy is a worker.

He swam the 200 fly in impresseive fashion last night and won it easily in a new meet record. Tonight he went after the 400 free. This is not an event he has swum that recently, but it is something that he has a great deal of experience in. It didn't help. Phelps swam a dumb race.

He went out fast and with a lot of legs. He jumped to a huge lead, but at 200 meters things started to go wrong. At 300, he was in trouble. The stroke was still strong but the legs were fading and that patented last wall that Phelps throws out was not there. He struggled to get out to about 8 meters and was really struggling getting home. Being the champion that he is, he managed a win, but it was not pretty.

He commented after the race that his Lactate was at 7 on the fourth test of his blood. that's really high guys. He said it himself, it was a dumb race, but the best admit it. they file it away and learn.
