Nobody cares that I ride a singlespeed.

Well the actual T shirt says "no one care that you ride a singlespeed" and I do not doubt it. I blogged about this about a year ago. I don't really get why it is cool, but it has become so. It bothers me. Mostly because I do it and I can't help hating myself for it.

Its not that somehow it is ok for me because I wear lycra or a helmet, but not ok for wanna be skater guy. Its just as easy to say I am wanna be whatever guy.

This all stems form the fact that I raced the singlespeed cross race yesterday...and did well...and liked it... a lot. I did well, but it is a bit like being good at underwater basketweaving. Does it matter? I have huge quads and pushed a 42 x 15 gearing through a cross race, happily. I am made for single speed racing. There were 20 starters in the race, more than in the open race the day before in Castle Rock. So its a real category, right? Please?

I know, its not. The 35+ race that i got smoked in earlier in the day is the real cat, but it is nice to be good at something. I had fun at least. That's worth something.

oh, and by the way. I would have gotten 16th in the 3's and they started :30 up the road, and they had gears.

Saw a bumper sticker the other day which complimented that one. "Nobody cares that you Tele." So fitting for Boulder.
