The Minnesota Grand Prix meet came to a close today. RallySport Aquatics represented itself quite well on the big stage with multiple finals swims and strong mid season performances.
Senior Eric Fischer led the way with best times and a team high 11th place finish tonight in the 200 backstroke. He had numerous best times through the course of the weekend. Siobhan Hengemuhle was the most prolific finals swimmer. She made it back int he 50 and 100 free and was a mainstay on the teams 3 relays. Rin Isobe, Alex Bisping and Matt McCurdy also produced swims that got them into the finals. All the kids were great this weekend.
As for the meet on the whole, the very best are still the very best. Madwed, Soni and Pereira were dominate as they powered to wins. What is interesting now that the suits are gone is that some of the parody is as well. The chasm from the 1st back to the 2nd tier has reopened. The better you are, the better you are.
Our sport has avoided a future in which the biggest and the strongest would win. An age that would have led, I believe to more widespread dug use and performance enhancing. Without the flotation of the suits, technical prowess will again be at the for front.
