What a meet

It was truly a great weekend for RallySport Aquatics, even if it did leave its coach a quivering heap of uselessness.

The kids swam great. The boys were definitely the winners of the battle of the sexes though with truly great performances. To top the list, Eric Fischer qualified for Junior Nationals. 1:53.78 at altitude in the 200 back. He cleared the mark by over half a second. He swam a great swim. Unfortunately, as often happens, he struggled a bit the rest of the weekend. When you finally get to that place that you want to, often it is such a huge emotional release that you falter a bit from then on. The other boys swam well too. Matt McCurdy and Dave Sherrier had near misses and Ben Searchinger was just awesome. The best swims of the weekend though came from the 14 and under boys, Sebastian Harvey and Max Phillips. These two proved that the older boys need to look over their shoulders a bit and better not let up.

As for the girls, we were missing some spark. Not sure what needs to change but we need to light a bit of a fire. Anna and Siobhan will be out at Juniors and I think there will be a spark there.

As for the coach, he struggled by the end. 10 hours at the pool Friday and 12 on Sat and Sunday was a bit unbearable. I made it though. Though my training was driven to a forced off season. Off to Juniors tomorrow. Hopefully the weather here and in Chicago allows us to get to Columbus.
