So back to some coaching updates...
We had the Loveland Heart of the Winter meet this weekend and man were they tires. Thursday night was a 7.5 k pasting of the distance group and the rest have been sprinting like there is no tomorrow. To add insult to soreness, we have changed our lifting program and the boys are legless right now. However, a tough tough performance was turned in by the vast majority of the swimmers.
High props to the Isobe boys. they were rewarded for a committed effort during the Holiday Break and Rei went all best times with Rin dropping in all his freestyles. Madeline Crouch broke through on Sunday with huge drops in the 200 back and 100 free and Katherine Uhlir attacked the mile for the first time with great success. Also, it was a great first meet for Kylie Rembert as she got a taste of racing in Colorado and I think enjoyed it very much.
I think the swimmer of the meet though was Geoffrey Lonhurst. Geofferey made some great efforts during the break while in and out of town with family. He was rewarded at the meet with all but one best time, swimming 4 events a day and limiting his complaining in the face of the 200 fly.
A high five out to Cam Dye and Kristen Peterson who enjoyed one of their best weeks of in the water training last week. Kristen was consistently solid and fought through an iffy mindset on Thursday to excel in the end. Cam was just dirty all week. He was setting the tempo day in and day out and punishing the teenagers. I have to admit, I enjoyed it.
