It's easier

There was a t shirt a number of years back that a rival team here in Colorado made. It said on the back "It's easier not to be great"

For years we made fun of the shirt, not because of what it said but because of the coach of the team. However, ultimately it is a great message. It is easier; to not give your best, to think negative thoughts and to tear people down instead of building them up. Way easier.

The bottom line is, and I belive this, there are more people in this country depressed than truly happy. Why is that? Furthermore, when we get together as groups, we complain. Why?

Because it is easier. It is far easier to bitch about our boss than to look inside and admit they may be right. It is far easier to complain about someone's behavior than to give them a break, the same way we would want a break. It is far easier to blame someone's behavior on their upbring, race or class than to try and understand their world.

It is esier to be typical than to be atypical. Be positive and you will be questioned. Smile and people will be wary. If you truly want to be happier, stop complaining, stop pointing out what is wrong and live what is right. It is harder, but it is much more rewarding.

the same pertains to sport. It is sooooooooooo much easier to complain about how bad you feel or what an ass your coach or teammate is, than to pull it together and get after it. It is easier to say, well it is not my fault, that ref screwed me than it is to play through it. But the hard path is often the rewarding one, to you. Just know that others will not see it and that doesn't matter. What you know in your heart is all that matters.
