I am not a fan of Xilinx. it's not that I don't think it is a great course and a great venue, it is. It is just that it does not play to many of my strengths. It is loose, with fast, dusty corners and very technical and very bumpy. I am getting better on them, but not my best favorite place to race.
As I have documented here, my local racing has not been the best this season and I was rewarded with a 40th place call up. I was in the 4th row or so and had to rail it pretty good up the pavement to get in the top 20. Onto the dirt and over the log all was well but I took a corner at a bad angle and bobbled and stumbled. When i re mounted on the far side of the barriers I discovered that my saddle was no pointing 45 degrees the wrong way. That was fun. it was like a head start for all the left hand turns and the opposite for the right handers. I rode that way until the en

My brain was now screaming "alright, let's go now" but there was no go. My legs were not answering the bell. Tired and a little dejected, I kept riding. There was a great battle going on up front and Allen and my teammate Spencer were battling in a group of 5. Then it all went to pieces when Spencer went down, exploding the group. Russel Harding rode off the front and Allen couldn't quite get back up there. I started to feel a bit better with 2 to go and rode in for a pedestrian 30th place. Spencer was 9th and Allen managed 2nd.
The following day, Sunday, Allen and Josh Whitney and I ventured out for an unbelievably beautiful ride on Peak to Peak. The sun was out, the leaves were changing and 30th place, didn't seem so bad. Off to Frisco.
