Friday night triathlon, Saturday morning workout and spend the day with my parents. Thought I would wake up and do the city park Criterium with Neal on Sunday.
The 7:40 start for the 35+'s seemed a bit gnarly but we left Boulder at 6 and headed down. I was a neat course through a very cool park, I had forgotten how nice it is. Couple of dicey corners though. Neal went off the front at lap 3 and as they got reeled in, he had to swerve to avoid a goose. The goose got out of the road safely and we moved on. I went off the front with about 5 to go and nearly went down clipping a pedal on a corner. I had no ability to sustain the top end though and gave up the ghost after a bit.
Neal went with 3 to go and won a prime and then we lined up for a hairy finish. As Neal went up the outside, I tried to go on the inside. He took the better line. He had a clear view of the line, but went a bit early. I on the other hand, got cut off in the last two corners and was out of position for the sprint. @6th to our fearless leader and I was 27th.
