FINA is at it again. Now they have decided that the Blue 70 is in fact legal.
Despite the rumors that we are going back to all textile suits at the beginning of 2010, FINA has approved many of the all neoprene suits for wear the rest of this season. Our record books will be rewritten again this summer. Swimmers will go to meets with a quiver of suits and choose the best suit for the race. Breast in Blue 7-, same with 200 flys. Some people in A7's some in LZRs. This is a nightmare.
On the club level we have a dilemma. What do we advise our swimmers? Obviously, we need suits this summer or our kids get washed out of meets. No chance for finals without the technology, but now we will have 17 year olds with best times that it may take them two years to reach. This is one of the hardest ages to keep kids motivated. Now they may not be achieving best times for a year? Tough conditions.
i just hope FINA follows through.
