I think we are going to have a bit of fun this year in the Tour. On one hand there are only about 20 riders left that can seriously win after stage 1. It also seems like half of those 20 riders are on the same team. I'm looking forward to it.
On the other hand, for me, it is back to work and back to training. It was an awesome week in Nags Head with the family, but the team needs its coach and I need to train. It felt like I was working out in a pool during those run workouts back there.
The team looks great and I am looking forward to a great taper with the kids as they go into the big summer meets. i am also curious to see how it goes with some of the college kids that are back. We are doing even more intensity than normal and less volume. I think we are going to be on it, but it is a bit unconventional and that always brings uncertainty.
As for my training...I was on the bike for 4 hours yesterday. South St Vrain, Raymond and back through Ward. Averaged 202 watts for 4 hours. i will take that. 90 min run and some core today and I feel like I am back on it. Gotta put in two monster weeks before we head off to Sectionals and then Nationals. I would like to see if i can hold this fitness into September. If I can, we may start looking to race.
