So as I mentioned here a couple of weeks ago, I have Basal Cell Skin Cancer. It is on my left temple or rather was. I had it removed today.
The MOHS surgery lasted about 4 hours of cut, wait, cut , wait and so on and so forth. In the end I was left with a hole about the size of a quarter that Dr Allen had to sew up. The doc said that the good news was that the cancer was smaller than he expected. However, I did win the biggest cancer of the day award. Not what i was looking for.
In the end though, all is well. With MOHS there is a 99% chance that all the cancer is removed. The bad news is that there is a 50 % chance that I will get another. Regular trips to the dermatologist are in my future.
So get yourself checked and get investing in sunscreen, particularly for the kids. Most skin cancers have their beginnings in the sun damage received before the age of 20.
