Cross is growing by leaps and bounds in the US and there are a limited number of companies in the US that are making cross specific products. There are companies that are doing cross frames, cross forks, but true cross wheels? Not many right?
Carroll Composites is making cross specific wheels. The G:38X from Carroll Comp has been engineered from the beginning to be THE cross wheel. They start with a deep carbon dish, but not over the top. It'll shred through the mud and sand but not collect the mud like some of the deeper rims.
The real movement forward with these wheels though is their width. The normal tubular rim is about 19mm wide and the Carroll G38's are 24mm wide. This width does several things.
1. more lateral st
2. wider, more stable platform
3. allows for a lower pressure to be run without risk of rolling
4. easier tire mounting.
What do you think? Good things for cross, eh?

I'm gluing these puppies up right now. I'm going to rolling these new shoes this weekend out at Boulder Racing #5 in Lyons. You gotta come check out the Louie with these wheels and I'll even let you roll around on it. They still have some of these wheelsets available and at 1380 grams and at a price tag of 1099.99, the only question is this. When you getting these? Tell Donovan Grant sent you.
