I think it is the little things that make the difference. When I coach swimming I am always talking about turns, breakouts and finishes. When racing, Allen and the boys talk about barriers, form, mounts and being smooth. Those little things add up.
Now I have never been a weight weeny, but if I can shave some weight without compromising performance, I am all for it. Check out these skewers. These things are are 44 grams. Yes 44. Ridiculously light and I have talked to some guys who have used them all cross season with no concerns. Look at them next to a normal skewer. Wild.
I also am trying new brake pads this weekend. They are lighter, longer and have more braking surface. Sounds like a bunch of great things for cross. I tooled around on them today and almost killed myself they have so much stopping power. Another cool innovation.
Now I am not going to stand here and say that everything from Carroll Composites are the ultimate and that everything else is crap. However, i will say this. You have got to love a company that stands there and says, "we can do better." Then he goes and does it. Check out all their stuff on line www.carrollcomposites.com
