You wanna do what?

So a year or so ago, Brett Hawke had his sprinters at Auburn do a workout called the Gatorade Challenge. You can see it here, not for the faint of heart. http://www.floswimming.org/videos/coverage/view_video/271-weekly-wednesday-workout/14531-the-main-set-auburn-sprinters

It has been duplicated many times by many teams, but my guys were inspired last week by their teammate Drew Weibel. He lost it during a workout and I told them about this Auburn set. Well, they dug it up and came screaming in about how they wanted to do it.

Here was last night's set...
pre meet warmup
1 x 200 all out 12:00
4 x 100 all out on 8:00
2 x 50 all out on 6:00

They asked if they could do the Gatorade chugging as part of the set and I agreed if they promised to do it well. They all swam the 200 and then started in on the Gatorade. There were some great swims along the way.Willy was 2;00 in a 200 back, Rin was 58 in an IM and Geoff was solid with several nice swims. Although the girls did not participate, Kourt's 1:07 100 breast on the third 100 was solid.

Andrew lost it first and then Colin, Liam and Geoff in rather quick succession. Max and Ben never really did lose it and were left with some serious bloating. Alex may have put on the best show with a spectacular explosion of orange after the last 50.

In the end it was fun, but we are going to have to do the real set this summer.
