Day 5

Yes, this meet is five days long. Add to that the fifth day is daylight savings and it makes for a bit of a mess Sunday morning. The Sunday prelims session is usually made up of frustrated coaches, tired swimmers and slow times.

No exception here. The morning of day 5 is about survival. Survive to the finals. After the week we have had, we managed only 3 best times Sunday morning. Anna made it back to finals in the 200 IM and 50 free, Nick in the 50 and Siobhan in the 50. The relays fought hard and managed 5th and 10th giving us some much needed points.

The miles come in the middle of the day. Prelims ended and Rob took the finals swimmers back to the hotel and picked up Abi and Ben. While they warmed up we scarfed down some food. Abi went at 1:18 and posted a best time of 18:14. It was a great swim, even split and awesome walls. I was pumped. She really wanted the short course yards cut and had missed by 6 seconds, but it was a great swim. Rob and i hopped in the water for a 15 min swim before the next swim. Ben was next and rolled a best time by 8 seconds breaking the 16:30 barrier (holding 1;00 per 100) and posting a 16:27. By the time he was done it was time to warmup the finals swimmers. Siobhan and Nick swam well but the night belonged to Anna.

The final for the 200 IM was her 4th swim of the day, 14th of the meet and she lit it up. 2:03.91, a new team record. Her 3rd of those for the meet. She then turned around 30 minutes later and took 7th in the final of the 50 free. What a meet!

RACE took 7th in the meet overall and 6th for the girls side. Anna won the 100 free. We set 13 individual team records and 5 relay records. Maybe the most successful meet ever for RallySport Aquatics at Sectionals.

We then hit Fatburger and Menchies frozen yogurt at a reward. Got back to the hotel tired, full and satisfied.
