My Saturday was a mess this weekend. I had a million things going on. Some were good and some were bad, but I came out of it reminded that the good is much more important than any bad.
I started the day with the usual morning workout. We went at 6:30 this week because the Sectional kids were tapering. All was well until I took a look at the psych sheets from Sectionals and found that one of our girls was not in the meet. Plane tickets have been bought and room reservations made and this swimmer wasn't in the meet. This has got to be the worst feeling in the world. I realized that her attachment is the issue. She had switched teams recently and that confusion messed up her entry. Emails and phone calls are made with no immediate reply.
I put in my contacts for the drive to Ft Collins and drop my glasses...and then step on them. Broken. Don't need them now, so move on. I am following Scott up to Ft Collins for the time trial and a rock hits my windshield, crack. A nice divot and crack. Bad things come in 3's right? I hope so.
I get to the race and a get a solid, all be it, short warmup. On to the course. I feel good into the 15 mph head wind going out and about halfway there Rob Kelly goes by meaning he's put :30 into me. I'm ok with that, stay with him. I am cranking now and I am with him to the turn around. We crank out of it and are rolling back with the tail wind. Rob is hauling. He pulls away a bit, but I am catching my guy. We come across the line 1-2 for the Vic's team. Nice.
Next thing. I hop in the car and roll back into Ft Collins to meet Rob. he is on the Cache la Poudre River. I meet up with him and toss a fly into the water for the first time in months. In the next 2 hours we pull out 5 fish. We also manage to spend some time talking about the future of the team and where we wanna go.
Rods packed up we head to the 14 and Under State meet. JP and Ozzie are on stage tonight. They have 5 events total. As Rob and I watch, JP goes 2 best times and Ozzie three and they both score in the 2 events. I am pumped for the age group program under Rob's direction.
In the end 3 bad things and 3 good things, but you know, the good always out weighs the bad. If you let it. and by the way, we got that swimmer into the meet.
