Louisville Crit

I was shocked. I had been in 2 breaks and chased down a couple more. I was floating back in the group after my teammate attacked with 4 to go and I was thinking "good work Grant." when I heard him. It was Neal. My coach, my friend, my teammate and my coaching partner.

"Can't be back here Grant, get to the front." yeah right, I was toast, done, nothing left. I was also wrong. I told him I would get him to the front and with 3 to go I moved up and then with 2 to go I moved again. The legs kept responding. So I tried to get to the front hoping Neal was on my wheel. I tucked into the gutter on the final turn and as i did it i knew it was maybe a little too aggressive of a move. As I came out of the turn, everyone went. Too early, I thought. I saw the remnants of the break up the road and they were going backwards. I pulled up to 400 m to go and then tried to open up. Not much there. Neal had not followed me around the corner, but he did come by me right near the end. Not a great lead out, but next time I will do better. 7th for Neal and 8th for me. Not a bad start to the year.
