A Great Season

2011 was indeed a great triathlon season for me in my first full year coaching with Neal Henderson at Apex Coaching. I am blessed to be a small part of the great athletes we have at Apex. Cam, Allen Krughoff, Flora, Jesse, Mac, Cari and Tyler had spectacular years and it is a joy and an inspiration to be around them. My athletes had great years as well and to say I am proud of them is an understatement.

I truly love coaching. I love being on deck at RACE and at RallySport Masters workouts. I am incredibly fortunate to have made my passion a career and my athletes feed that. I have coached triathlon in the past but not with the resources that I have at Apex, nor with the athletes. Kristen, Neil, Allen, Jeff, Jimmy, Brooks and Will have been awesome this season and there is way more to come.

The 2011 season came to an end this week wit Kristen taking 7th in Austin 70.3 in her first attempt at the distance and although Jimmy ended 2011 on a tough note in Maui, he is primed for a great 2012. The were some big highlights to the season. Will taking podiums in Mexico and Japan Xterras, Allen taking top 10's in 2 5150 races and Kristen qualifying and then taking 22rnd at Hy-Vee were among them. Jeff Leidy's recent age group podium at Siesta key Triathlon and his daughter Savanna's great showing this summer were right up there with Neil smith's rise from the 4's to the front of the cat 3 road races. Maybe the best part of coaching is these people not their performances. Coaching this season has brought old friends back into my life and strengthened friendships that will last forever.

I do love my role with Apex Coaching and look forward o an even better 2012.

Love you Grant! Couldn't have done it without your support this year. Thanks for all of the encouragement, advice, and a few yellings. Would be lost without your guidance and support. Looking forward to a BIG 2012 season!
