A comeback of sorts-Metro Brokers TriathlON Friday

Its hard to believe that it has been 7 years since I did a triathlon. Especially considering how involved I still am in the sport as a coach and supporter. However, at 35, I decided to take the plunge back in and join teammates Jimmy Archer and Breeze at the Metro Brokers TriathlON Friday. It was nice to be back.

If you read this, you know I have been riding and running, but not swimming. The trend continued. I had my pre race snack of a Breeze Bar and a Mix 1. I warmed up well on the bike, but did not do enough in the water. I probably put in 400 meters. not even close to enough for the effort we were going to put out.

The start was great and through 300 meters I felt good...then the wheels, or rather the arms came off. jimmy went around me. Shame and joy mixed together on that one. Good to know I am coaching well enough for Jimmy to beat me out, but it left a mark. Solid on the bike with the 5th fastest split. Gotta tilt the seat forward when I am in the bars, I was losing power there. I had a very good run though. I can't remember the last time I didn't get passes running, thanks coach Neal. I guess we are both getting our jobs done.

Took 3rd overall and won the age group. Jimmy was 1st overall and Breeze was the 8th woman. It was a great event. The course was fun, the people were super helpful and its a great idea. Great post race food a cool shirt and an awesome fundraiser to Special Olympics.

A sprint tri on a Friday evening. We gotta get to a point where this is a weekly thing. Congrats to Mike Bradley for a great first year race. Not a bad little Friday night.

Its good to be back.

Grant, thanks for racing! It's an honor and I was thrilled to see you and Jimmy make the trek to Cherry Creek for our first-year event.
