Great weekend

Well, I arrived in Federal Way today for 12 days of swimming. First Maddie, Nick, Nat and Kristen for US Open and then Sophie and Matt for Juniors. Stuck in the same hotel room can be a bit much so Breeze and I ventured out for a mountain bike weekend to ensure a little sanity.

We left Saturday morning after watching some of the Worlds Swimming on TV. As a side note, why in the world would you provoke Michael Phelps. I mean really. Anyway. We hit the road and headed up to Kenosha pass and rode the Colorado trail toward breck. It was beautiful and aside from a fall of my butt directly on to a rock, it was a great day. 3 hours and a little run afterword, doesn't get much better.

We hit the road and stopped at Dinky Dairy in Fairplay for some great Drive In food. now Dinky Dairy isn't exactly a Drive In but close enough. It is a Pre Fab hose in the middle of a tiny town with great burgers and ice cream. you gotta try it.

We rolled into Salida around 6:45 and met up with Dave and Donald. Went to the Victoria Bar and had a beer while we watched some locals try and beat each other up. It was pretty solid actually. The one guy yelling "F--- who?" was great.

Camped and hit Monarch Crest in the morning. We rolled out about 9:30 and proceeded to leap frog about three groups uuntil Dave broke his chain about an hour in. Luickily I had two in my bag (don't ask) and e were moving again. We rolled onto Rainbow Trail about 4 hours in and had a snack of breeze bars and Mix1 and then rolled thorugh it. A great leisurely 6 hour ride and we were back on the road.

Dinky Dairy again on the way and home by 9. That a Colorado weekend.
