Trip to the Velodrome

So I have been telling Rodrigo at Boulder Indoor Cycling that I was going to some ride for about a year now. Today I made it there. Mostly because Neal put it on the schedule and I think he has visions of me on the track down the road. The truth is that when i got there I realize why I hadn't gotten there yet. Oh God was it scary.

I have spent the last 10 years on a bike and it is not often that you do something that has a familiar element, but at the same time is completely new. It was really cool. However, I have to admit, that even when i was done i was still shaking. It is all about attacking when your mind is screaming slow down and the reality that speed is your friend and tentativeness is the enemy. I say it to my athletes constantly, it was a good reminder to feel it again. Thanks Neal.

As for the team. the first meet is this weekend and we are swimming very well. We are way ahead of last year and the Juniors project seems to be in full affect. As tired as they are I have to approach this weekend with the right attitude, but it is hard. The last couple of years we have walked out of the first meet with a surprise Sectional cut and it is hard not to hope for one. We'll see.

Other things on the agenda this weekend are a cross race before the meet on Sunday and the conversion of the Giant TCX into a single speed. Oughta be fun.
