Wasn't it Snoop Dogg that said "I can change"? Well he said it at one point in a song with John Legend. Don't know that he did, don't know him.
Everybody always says people don't change. What a load, people change all the time. Selfish people see the light, addicts quit, the birth of a child changes people, it happens all the time. However, I think the driving force behind change is misunderstood. People do not change because of other people in their lives, they change for themselves.
As we start the new year, people all over the world are saying the have made a resolution and the majority of those are not people saying, hey I'm going to keep cheating on my wife and doing 'roids. No we are not all Tiger (sorry).
Here is the key. The person changing has got to want to and not because you told them to or you made them feel guilty or they think they SHOULD. It only happens when they make a decision that they want to be different and (this is the key) they are willing to make the sacrifices in their life to be different.
Whether you are an athlete trying to reach the next level, trying to quit smoking or just trying to be a better person. You have to be willing to do the work and be aware everyday of what it takes. Sit down and look at what that will be, plan for it and embrace it.
That is what allows people to change.
