Championship Season

As I sit here on the last free Saturday afternoon I will have for a month, I am giddy with excitement. It is Championship Season at RallySport Aquatics. Next weekend is Silver and Senior State, then 14 and Under State and then off to Federal Way, WA for Sectionals. It is time for taper, for shaves, for time drops and for fun.

Some of you will say, last week was High School State, so didn't Championship Season already start? We did shave the girls and they got a little rest, but that was not our main meet. The fact that many of the girls went big best times, Anna made her first LC Junior cut and Kourtney won the breast, was great, but that meet was not our goal. Our goals are now.

We are at 24 Sectional Qualifiers, 6 Short Course Junior cuts, 4 LC Junior cuts and 2 National cuts and one (Christine Jennings) with a trials cut. Christine probably will not be swimming Trials for RACE though so we need to get on it.

The key to this time of year is to be attentive to details and committed to your plan. The kids have sat down with their coaches and have plans for their races as they did for their season. Now, all that's left is to execute. No peripheral thoughts, no last minute changes, just go swim your best race. It works. Don't think, just follow the plan. It's going to be fun, we'll keep you posted.

Big congrats to Matt Sherrier on his NCAA Div I "B" cuts this weekend and Aaron Shavers great 50 and 200 freestyles at conference. RACE alumns are rocking it. Keep it up guys.
